About the Authors

Eric Carlson and Katharine Bau Hsiao are attorneys with the National Senior Citizens Law Center (NSCLC), a non-profit law firm that since its founding in 1972 has protected the legal rights of older Americans. Mr. Carlson and Ms. Hsiao have more than 30 years of combined experience in assisting elder clients in disputes relating to nursing homes, assisted living, Medicare, Medicaid, health care decisions, and related matters.

NSCLC conducts training sessions on nursing home law across the country, and publishes the consumer guide “20 Common Nursing Home Problems – and How to Resolve Them,” along with the comprehensive bimonthly publication, Long-Term Care Law Reporter.
